Planes, Trains, Cars and Boats

Copenhagen is easy to reach by all means of transport.

  • Your main airport destination is the Copenhagen Airport (Københavns Lufthavne), CPH, but you could check out the Malmö Airport (MMX) in Southern Sweden as well.

  • You'll find a good network of trains and coaches in Denmark.

  • Getting around by car in Denmark is easy. The roads are in good shape and usually not too crowded.

  • You can even arrive at Copenhagen with your own boat via the North Sea through the Kattegat and Skagerrak.

Direct Link to Sweden

The Öresund Bridge connects Copenhagen with the southernmost region of Sweden, Skåne, thereby creating a transnational metropolitan area called the Öresund Region - a new centre of Northern Europe. You can reach Malmö, the capital of Skåne either by train, bus or car by crossing the bridge.

Public Transport in Copenhagen

In the Greater Copenhagen area, you can change buses, metro, trains and the yellow "harbour bus" using the same tickets and discount cards.
Ordinary basic tickets can be purchased from vending machines at stations, ticket offices and on buses from the driver.

The Copenhagen Metro opened a new stretch between the airport and city centre in September 2007 - to the benefit of both visitors and Copenhageners. It only takes 15 minutes to get from the airport to Kongens Nytorv to the heart of Copenhagen, but of course you can get off at a number of stations beforehand, like Christianshavn or Nørreport, or you can continue to the final stop, Vanløse.

The metro station at the airport is located at the end of Terminal 3 and is covered by the roof of the terminal.

The Metro operates at four to six minutes' intervals during the day and evening hours and every 15-20 minutes during the night.

Taxis

Taxis are plentiful in the city. All taxis in Copenhagen are licensed by the authorities and are equipped with meters. Taxis can be flagged down anywhere in Copenhagen. If the yellow "Taxa" light on the roof of the car or in the front window is on, the taxi is available for hire. The meter starts at 24-37 Danish kronen (DKK).

Accommodation

List of Hotels and Booking Form *

A list with hotels in Copenhagen ranging from budget to luxury is now available online. We have in cooperation with Welcome negotiated special prices for all participants. We trust you will note that there are many competitively-priced options:
  • a wide range of double rooms for 50-60 euros per person/night
  • eight hotels with single rooms for less than 100 euros/night
  • choosing rooms for triple or quadruple use makes your stay even cheaper
  • four hostels are on offer as well

*Please note, you will need to select your hotel category on the accommodation website before reaching the respective booking form.

The daytime venue can be reached easily by public transportation from all of the hotels. We recommend to choose a hotel which is close to the M1 metro line.

The rates mentioned in euros are approximate prices and calculated per today's exchange rate.

You will be able to book your hotel through the Welcome website or the Copenhagen Meeting Secretariat (Welcome Meeting Management). Their office is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 16:30.
