Accommodation Tips Getting Around Places to Eat Things to See Further Tips Share your own Copenhagen recommendations, opinions, experiences with other WOMEX delegates on our Facebook Fanpage. Spend time - not money - in Copenhagen...and here's how: Accommodation Tips 4 Nights for 3373 DKK per Twin/Double Room - Hotel Opera (3*) 4 Nights for 3040 DKK per Double Room - Danhostel Surf a Couch in Copenhagen 4 Nights for 3373 DKK per Twin/Double Room - Hotel Opera (3*) How does this sound? Perfectly located between the WOMEX day and nighttime venues (within 3 km from each), Hotel Opera offers a 25% discount if you stay 3 nights or more. A standard twin or double room can be booked on their website for only 3373 DKK/approx. 454 euros per room for 4 nights (excl. breakfast). This works out at 1687 DKK/approx. 227 euros per person for 4 nights! Situated on a peaceful side street to Kongens Nytorv, the 3 star Hotel Opera is just a 2-minute walk from the metro M1/M2, buses, and all the shopping facilities on the pedestrian street, Strøget. Book on Opera Hotel's website. 4 Nights for 3040 DKK per Double Room - Danhostel Yes. You can have a double room (2 beds!) with private bathroom including breakfast for about 3040 DKK/approx. 410 euros (per room!) from 27 - 31 October 2010. That's 1520 DKK/approx. 205 euros per person for 4 nights! The hostel we are talking about - Danhostel Copenhagen Downtown - opened in May 2010 and offers clean, simple and functional accommodation at low prices. It's located in the city centre close to the town hall and a 15-minute walk away from Norreport metro/train station. Book online and check their website (there are more Danhostels all over Copenhagen). The prices require that you hold a valid international hostel card (160 DKK for 12 months) or purchase a guest card (35 DKK per night). Surf a Couch in Copenhagen One frequent comment in last year's WOMEX survey was that Copenhagen is a very expensive place to visit. So, we've been asking ourselves: How can we make spending time in Copenhagen easier and more personal for music professionals from around the globe? We believe that CouchSurfing.org could be a good solution. CouchSurfing is an international non-profit network that connects travelers with locals in over 230 countries and territories around the world. Since 2004, members have been using the system to come together for cultural exchange, friendship, and learning experiences. We have invited WOMEXicans based in Copenhagen to register with CouchSurfing.org and offer their sofa to you, WOMEX delegates from all over the world, for a few days. WOMEX is all about networking, isn't it? And maybe one day you will be offering your couch to WOMEX delegates coming to your town? Registering for CouchSurfing.org is free of charge. However, if you would like to become a verified member (and have your postal address confirmed for safety reasons) you will be asked to make a small donation. Please note: When you create your profile after you have registered for CouchSurfing.org, make sure to mention "WOMEX" in the field "Current Mission" so that WOMEX delegates will be able to identify each other on CouchSurfing.org. WOMEX is also listed in the Meeting section on CouchSurfing.org - please join as a member. This too will help WOMEXicans to connect to each other on CouchSurfing.org. Last but not least, we encourage you to find a WOMEXican from Copenhagen to host you, but if you think that someone else's CouchSurfer profile fits your plans just as well, we won't keep you from making contact with other locals. However, read this person's profile and references online carefully before you get in touch with him or her to be on the safe side - CouchSurfing is your own responsibility. Reserve your Sofa in Copenhagen Now! One clip is all it takes to get by metro from the WOMEX daytime venue Forum Copenhagen to the WOMEX nighttime venue DR Koncerthuset (and two clips from the airport to any of the two venues). And you have a whole hour to hop on and off and explore in the same zone – by metro, train and bus. You can buy multi-ride tickets at all metro stations, most kiosks – and the airport! Rent a bike! The budget model will cost you DKK 200 for five full days from Baisikeli. It's a 700m-walk from the WOMEX daytime venue Forum Copenhagen to their shop.
