For the second time, WOMEX will be offering Matchmaking for music publishers
free of charge, following its success at WOMEX 10. The event aims to promote networking opportunities at WOMEX and bring
interested business partners together.
WOMEX 11 Matchmaking will be
orientated towards music publishers who want to offer their services as a sub-publisher and/or are looking for sub-publishers in other areas of the world. Due to its
high proportion of international delegates, WOMEX is the
ideal platform for this. Last year 30 publishers from 17 countries took part in the WOMEX Matchmaking event.
On Friday, 28 October, an
introduction to the Matchmaking at WOMEX 11 will be provided by a Conference Session entitled:
Competition Among Collecting Societies: How to Evaluate their Services and Quality. It will be chaired by Martin Schaefer (Germany), Boehmert & Boehmert with Frank Dostal (Germany), GEMA and Jakob Hüttel (Denmark), KODA
Birgit Böcher, Deputy Managing Director of the
German Music Publishers' Association (DMV), states: "The matchmaking offered at WOMEX has our full support. It is an
extremely valuable service for publishers/sub-publishers who are looking for
relevant business partners in specific territories."
Stephen Navin, Chief Executive of

offering a matchmaking service to publishers attending the 2011 event. As the UK is a net exporter of music it is extremely important for UK publishers to
