BRAND NEW INITIATIVE: INTERNATIONAL MATCHMAKING FOR PUBLISHERS
MEET THE NEW WOMEX PHOTOGRAPHERS
EBU WORLD MUSIC WORKSHOP AT WOMEX
Dear Media Colleagues,
Stop press, we have a budding new element on offer this year at WOMEX 10 Copenhagen... Matchmaking sessions for publishers will commence for the first time.
BRAND NEW INITIATIVE: MATCHMAKING FOR PUBLISHERS
Premiere! WOMEX will be offering Matchmaking Sessions for publishers attending the 2010 edition. This new service aims to promote networking opportunities at WOMEX and connect interested business partners from around the world - free of charge.
WOMEX Matchmaking will orientate itself towards music publishers who want to offer their services as a sub-publisher and/or are looking for a sub-publisher in other areas of the world. WOMEX provides a perfect platform to host this new feature due to its high proportion of international delegates. Last year at WOMEX 09, there were over 200 music publishers alone, representing around 50 different countries.
Birgit Böcher, deputy managing director of the German Music Publishers' Association responds: "We readily welcome this initiative and will support it. This offer of international Matchmaking for publishers of world music couldn't come at a more perfect time."
Eva Kiltz, managing director of the Association of Independent Music Companies from Germany notes, "The Matchmaking at WOMEX offers an excellent chance for networking with internationally orientated music publishers and presents the seminal business sector of Sub-Publishing with its own unique platform. This new service at WOMEX receives our full endorsement."
A Conference Session based around the same issues will provide an introduction to the Matchmaking at WOMEX 10: "The Secret of Sub- Publishing: What is a sub-publisher, how do I find a sub-publisher, should I take on the responsibilities of a sub-publisher myself?".
The Matchmaking offer has aroused lively interest among Music Export Offices and is supported by DMV, German Music Publishers Federation, and VUT, German Independent Music Companies Association.
It will be curated and managed by Rosita Kürbis from Komplize Produktion. The format to be used here is based on Rosita's years of experience in the development and optimisation of networking structures.
The Matchmaking Registration Form can be ordered at production@womex.com. Places are limited.
