NEXT EDITION OF PORTO MUSICAL ANNOUNCED

The 5th edition of Porto Musical will be taking place in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil from Wednesday to Saturday, 23 - 26 February 2011. Music and technology professionals from Brazil and abroad will come together at the 4-day conference and showcase event just before the lavish Recife carnival.

Last Porto Musical saw 440 delegates from 8 countries, 15 showcases including Naurea, Orquestra Contemporanea de Olinda and Curumim and 27 conference sessions featuring Nelson Motta, Seymour Stein, Jonas Woost and Andre Midani. It turned Recife into the Brazilian capital of music for a few days.

The showcase programme of Porto Musical 2011 will present acts from the local and the national scene as well as artists from outside Brazil, plus a DJ set to mark the end of each festival night.

The conferences are defined in three platforms of discussion - Go Brazil!, Go International! and Go Digital! - offering insight into the local and international music market and today's digital tools for musical creation, production, marketing, distribution and promotion. Porto Musical's 5th edition is calling for proposals of showcases and conferences. Submission is open from now until Friday, 20 August.

Porto Musical is carried out by Astronave Iniciativas Culturais and Fina Producao in cooperation with WOMEX and Porto Digital.
