WOMEX COPENHAGEN IS STARTING TODAY
Dear Media Colleagues,
The third and final edition of WOMEX - the world music expo - in Copenhagen is opening its doors today to welcome music professionals from all over the world to the Danish capital.
An impressive WOMEX Opening concert programme on Wednesday evening, leading the audience through the past, present and future of Hungary's music - will mark the start of WOMEX 11 in Copenhagen, raising the bar for the days and nights to come.
The five-day event includes a Showcase Festival featuring 60 acts from over 50 countries on 6 stages; athriving Trade Fair; a full Conference programme with 40 speakers from 21 countries in 20 sessions, the second International Publisher Matchmaking, Speed- Dating and Mentoring; IMZ Film Screenings and the WOMEX Award Ceremony on Sunday morning.
WOMEX 11 Last Minute Programme Updates: IMZ, the International Music + Media Centre, Austria, is delighted to announce that another film has made it into the final screening selection:

WOMEX's local partner for the past years has been World Music Fair Copenhagen, an organisation created by several key cultural players from Denmark to host WOMEX from 2009 to 2011: first and foremost Roskilde Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival and Wonderful Copenhagen. The other principal members comprise the Danish Center for Culture and Development (CKU/DCCD), Global Copenhagen and World Music Denmark in cooperation with Welcome Meeting Management.
Since its first edition in 1994 WOMEX has been travelling all across Europe from Berlin (1994), via Brussels (1995), Marseille (1997), Stockholm (1998), Berlin (1999 + 2000), Rotterdam (2001), Essen (2002 + 2004), Newcastle (2005), Sevilla (2003 + 2006-2008) to Copenhagen (2009-2011). In 2012, WOMEX will be moving south to Thessaloniki, Greece.
