WOMEX

WOMEX IS LOOKING FOR TWO NEW STAFF MEMBERS

Job Description: Conference Director

The WOMEX conference director will oversee all conference activities for WOMEX, both at its main European event as well as with its many partnerships throughout the world. The role will also include organizing special educational, training, mentoring courses and related projects that WOMEX regularly undertakes. It therefore requires a highly innovative individual who can create new projects and see them through from idea to budgeting to possible fundraising to final execution.

WOMEX co-created Porto Musical in Brazil; is developing and staffing conference sessions for Moshito in South Africa; is co-organizing a new UK event with the Arts Council of England to be held in Bristol; is creating conferences with the Jazz and Heritage Foundation in New Orleans to be held during the 2009 Jazzfest; and is now in discussions for new events and partnerships in Australia and elsewhere. We are also involved in grant-funded and other development projects to help integrate the new countries of Europe and help create, support and link networks in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific regions. In short, this is an area of expansion for us, and one on which we are placing increasing emphasis.

Experience: We are looking for someone with extensive knowledge of the music industry and its issues. We seek a dynamic, self-motivating person with conferencing experience. Knowledge of fundraising and grant-writing is a plus. Fluency in English is an absolute requirement.

We are hoping to fill this position before the end of March. This is a fulltime position and the applicant must be ready to live in Berlin.
