Here we go. The first of the major WOMEX 08 announcements. Over the coming weeks you will learn of all the showcases, conferences and special new features.
First, some conference sessions. We're launching a new format this
year, Mentoring Sessions. Read all about it below...
Also, registration numbers are rising once again, we've got more than
last year at the Smart Rate... It's now or never for a trade fair
stand... And, we have launched the new womex.com homepage this week
with more information, films, photos and sound. Read on... there's
much more!
First WOMEX Programme Announcement
This year WOMEX, in its conference sessions, has as its principal
focus the whole notion of strategies. Strategies for making the right
decisions as an artist, a distributor, a label, a festival. Strategies
for creating a more creative and adaptable business model. Strategies
for maximising understanding of - and opportunities in - the digital
age.
This year we are introducing two new features: Master Classes and
Mentoring Sessions. The Master Classes will cover first and foremost
practical issues. The Mentoring Sessions offer free, private
consultations with experienced colleagues from a wide variety of
fields. We'll be announcing soon how to sign up for it.

Registration Numbers Going Up & Trade Fair Stands Added
We are counting 10% more registrations than last year at Smart Rate
deadline. Trade fair stands are in such high demand, too, that we had
to add another 20 stands to the originally intended 300 we already
sold.

Night Showcases: Location Confirmed
The WOMEX nighttime showcases will once again take place in the
picturesque city centre of Sevilla, at Teatro Lope de Vega/Casino de
la Exposición and on Plaza de España – the same night location as last
year.

This week we launch a new homepage with industry news, links, videos, music, photos - and easy access to all the information you need about WOMEX activities. Have a look at http://www.womex.com. The format is like a news site, where new features will appear at the top, followed by the older stories below.
Special Meetings & Presentations
WOMEX rents rooms to delegates wanting to hold special meetings or
presentations. All appropriate information will be printed in the
WOMEX Guide 08 if you book before Friday, 25 July,mail to:
conference@womex.com.
WOMEX Book Conference
This is your chance to promote the book you (co-)wrote or published
after October 2007: this collective session gives a number of authors
and publishers the occasion to read from and discuss your works, even
offer titles for sale. The book can be written in any language, of
course, but the presentation should be held in English.
A whole page in the WOMEX Guide will feature the event.

Your World Music Anniversaries
Once again we'll publish last year's popular 'World Music Anniversary'
feature in the WOMEX Guide but this time celebrating anniversaries for
2008. Any suggestions? These can be of artists, companies, special
milestones in music, anything, but be sure it's a round number not
some arbitrary 34 years since who-knows-what.
