Dear WOMEXicans,

A much-anticipated piece of news can finally be disclosed: the location of this year's WOMEX nighttime venue.

top ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WOMEX 09 NIGHTTIME VENUE

The night showcases will all take place under one roof (!) at the new Copenhagen Concert Hall run by Danish Broadcasting (DR).

Designed by Jean Nouvel it was inaugurated in January after a six year construction period. The building is already highly esteemed: "For now this is the most expensive concert hall in the world. Soon it will just be one of the best", says the Financial Times.

It consists of four halls with the main auditorium seating 1,800 people. When the WOMEX team first heard a concert there, everybody was overwhelmed by the truly amazing sound.

What's more, we are working in partnership with Roskilde Festival producers to assure the best possible concert conditions for this year's showcases.

And this is not the only good news: the Copenhagen Concert Hall is only two metro stations away from Bella Center (M1, direction city centre). The metro will be running throughout the night every 15-20 minutes.

top PETITION AGAINST EU VISA DISCRIMINTATION OF MUSICIANS

Music events and gatherings across Europe are important global villages - uniting local and international artists, providing intercultural learning opportunities, promoting peace and respect.

Yet power lies in the hands of those deciding on visas to dictate which artists, and from which countries, are welcome behind the walls of fortress Europe to let their voices be heard.
