WOMEX 09 GUIDE FOR SALE

Dear WOMEXicans,

top GERALD SELIGMAN HAS LEFT WOMEX

After three years as General Director and four at WOMEX, Gerald Seligman has stepped down to pursue other activities after this year's edition in Copenhagen.

WOMEX President Christoph Borkowsky states: "In his time as General Director Gerald made great contributions to reshape WOMEX and its offspring activities in Recife and Jo'burg, helped to meet contemporary challenges and succeeded to help initiate new projects such as the ACP music festival network. His legacy will always be part of WOMEX and I wish him all the best for his future adventures as one of the top diplomats for the world music cause."

Gerald adds, "The WOMEX community is a remarkable collection of committed, progressive activists who are very much responsible for the great strides made in the past two decades in bringing the music of the world to new audiences. Back then it was no easy task to find the music and harder still to hear artists of the world in concert. Now, thanks to the efforts of this community there are more artists from more cultures touring than ever before in history. Multi- culturalism advances. It is an honor to be part of this scene and it has been a privilege to serve them as part of WOMEX. I look forward to keeping up in future WOMEX editions and, hopefully, continuing to contribute in any way I can to this remarkable movement. "

Gerald can be contacted at geraldseligman@gmail.com
