In recent weeks our office has primarily been frequented by postmen. The Showcase department is drowning in CD packages: WOMEX Showcase proposals 2009… Over 760, a new record...

WOMEX BLOG: SPRING UPDATE

The big question was… With the industry in crisis, would we begin to see an effect on the number of showcase proposals? Last year we had a record number, 635, which made the use of an online system, courtesy of Sonicbids, absolutely imperative. But since then the general music industry crisis has intensified (in the UK in December, for example, retail and distribution both imploded), and then came the overall world economic crisis. We were thinking the numbers might start to shrink a bit. Then again...

We are looking for a new selection of four photographers to cover this year's event in Copenhagen. To apply, please send a biography and direct us to your online gallery, so we can get a clear idea of your work and experience.

HOTELS IN COPENHAGEN

A tip. If you book a hotel in the city or near the daytime venue, Bella Center, try to do it within walking distance of the M1 tramline. It’ll make life easier. You can zip back and forth, get an early dinner, drop things off at the hotel and zip back to the nighttime venue (location to be announced shortly).
