Time for some news. The first Showcase Proposal Deadline is approaching,
Porto Musical is back with its 4th edition and information on The New
Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation - a new WOMEX partnership.
REMINDER AND FIRST DEADLINE: CALL FOR WOMEX 09 SHOWCASE, CONFERENCE AND FILM PROPOSALS
First of two Showcase Proposal Deadlines 31st March.
Showcases proposals are accelerating and it looks like WOMEX 09 will once again offer the planet's most exciting world music artists.
If you want to take advantage of the cheaper Smart Rate, you must propose until Tuesday, 31 March. After that the fee will increase to US$ 30 for new members and to US$ 21 for existing Sonicbids members.
And, remember, the final deadline for all Showcase (and conference and film) proposals is 17 April. Sorry, no late entries will be accepted.

PORTO MUSICAL IS BACK - 4TH EDITION ANNOUNCED

Mark your calendars: 17-20 June, Porto Musical is returning to Recife, Brazil. This year, it is organized in the days just before the famed Festa São João, the most important and exciting festival exclusive to the Northeast.

WOMEX AND THE NEW ORLEANS JAZZ & HERITAGE FOUNDATION - A NEW PARTNERSHIP
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation will host its second annual conference for music industry professionals during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
Sync Up: The Jazz & Heritage Talent Exchange is a series of morning conference sessions held the Friday and Saturday of both festival weekends (April 24-25 and May 1- 2).
Topics to be discussed include the economic climate for international music festivals, distributing music through such digital media as video games, artist development in the Internet age, new funding mechanisms like nonprofit record labels, copyright protection and more.
WOMEX will be joining in with a keynote on the digital realm and chairing a panel on festivals.
