MAJOR INTERNATIONAL NETWORKS CONNECT AT WOMEX

Each year WOMEX provides professional networks from all across the globe with a platform for their annual meetings and the chance to get together, brainstorm, discuss and develop ideas. The abundance of Networking Meetings at WOMEX 12 offer something for everyone:

Delegates are invited to meet the International Music Managers' Forum (IMMF), a global non-governmental organisation which strives to ensure the safeguarding, respect and protection of the moral and professional interests of its members and the worldwide community of music managers. Coordinated by Christoph Storbeck (Germany/Italy), Striker Entertainment/IMMF.

The European Forum of Worldwide Music Festivals (EFWMF) has a network of more than 50 members from all over the world and has recently expanded to include festivals outside of Europe. All festivals present at WOMEX are invited to attend an informal networking meeting to get to know each other.

The European Network of World Music Promoters is a new networking platform for European music venues, local networks and individual concert promoters that book world music throughout the year. The platform will be officially launched at WOMEX, in a Networking Meeting coordinated by Maarten Rovers (The Netherlands), RASA.

A Networking Meeting coordinated by Sylvie Canal (France) and David Millier (France) from ADCEP – Fête de la Musique, will be an opportunity for current worldwide organisers of Fête de la Musique to meet and share experiences, as well as for music professionals to receive a presentation and gain a clear understanding of this global live music event.

The North American Networking Meeting, coordinated by Dmitri "Crazy- Pants" Vietze (USA), rock paper scissors, is a chance to see old friends, welcome newcomers to the field, and trade ideas about the global music scene.

Developing "Trad Network" Together will be coordinated by Gilles Garand (Canada), Folquébec, and will explore how the Trad sector can be enhanced. It aims to examine ways to increase the presence of artists and bearers of tradition in national and international cultural events, for the preservation of world cultural diversity.

The MALI – Music and Languages Initiative - Networking Meeting will offer delegates advice on best practices for connecting world music rights holders with language education, including the opportunities that are open to them, how their material can be used, and what type of revenue models exist. Coordinated by Kay Verdon (Belgium/UK), Tungsten with Sam Lee (UK), WOMEX 12 Showcase artist.

And finally a reminder of the three Networking Meetings previously announced as part of this year's special programme focus: the Global Bass Networking Meeting will help make space for the bass at WOMEX as part of the brand new DJ Summit; the Southeastern European Networking Meeting will provide the ideal platform for local professionals from the WOMEX 12 host region to meet and rally together; and the Jazz & World Networking Meeting, coordinated by Europe Jazz Network, will make a welcome return to WOMEX 12 following last year's capacity turn out.
