INTERNATIONAL MINISTERIAL MEETING IN CABO VERDE TO PROMOTE YOUTH EMPLOYMENT IN AFRICA'S CREATIVE ECONOMY

From 28-30 November 2013, a high profile gathering organised by UNESCO and the Government of Cabo Verde took place in the capital Praia to look into developing an integrated approach to generate policies for youth employment that combines the cultural and creative resources and education efforts in Africa.

The meeting brought together ministers and high-level government officials of different departments, including education, culture and youth, as well as delegates, experts and cultural entrepreneurs from the following seven countries: Angola, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal.

ONEBEAT 2014 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS - DEADLINE: 15 JANUARY 2014

Adventurous and socially-engaged musicians from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply for this unique collaborative music programme. OneBeat fellows work together to create, record, and perform original works, while developing ways to use music as a tool for social change. OneBeat invites musicians from all genres and approaches: traditional/folk, hip hop, experimental, electronic, jazz, classical, sound design, beat-making, multimedia art, as well as musical puppeteers and community organisers.
