Previous WOMEX Offspring Projects


In the past we have also collaborated with Spain's Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música (INAEM) and Fundacíon Trés Culturas, Sync Up hosted by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, Moshito, Discovering Music Archives (DISMARC), Mondomix, and the BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music.

For INAEM and the Fundacíon Trés Culturas, we hosted a special WOMEX Opening event in Sevilla in 2007 featuring Faiz Ali Faiz and his Qawwali Group in a joint performance with Duquende, Chicuelo and Group.

For Aga Khan’s Music Initiative in Central Asia we hosted Via Kaboul: Music and Voices of Central Asia at the WOMEX Opening in Essen, 2004.

For South Africa's Moshito conference we produced six conference sessions, helped target African professionals, and did general international marketing.

For DISMARC we worked as part of a team on linking digital music archives all over Europe, overseeing the creation of archive projects that we will offer out to the WOMEX network.

With Mondomix we create yearly web broadcasts of the WOMEX event, the WOMEX TV Studio and WOMEX TV on site.

For the BBC Radio 3, WOMEX has served as the voting "academy" polling our vast membership base to provide nominations for their previous Awards for World Music.
