BEWARE OF THE EXPO/FAIR GUIDE And Telephone Scammers

Accommodation and Housing Telephone Scam

It has been brought to our attention that dubious services call up delegates of WOMEX, as they do with many other fairs and meetings, researching the contact data on the internet. The callers offer accommodation deals, who may turn out to be overpriced, often claiming or implying to be affiliated with WOMEX.

Please note that WOMEX does not do that and that we are not affiliated with these services. Head over to www.womex.com/prepare/travel for trusted accommodation recommendations.

We are in no way affiliated with specific hotels or third-party accommodation management services, nor will we ever call you to sell accommodation. If you are contacted by any company claiming to represent WOMEX please note the details, ignore and let us know.

Expo Guide

A company called Expo Guide based in Mexico regularly sends out misleading mailings to WOMEX delegates. Please read all incoming mailings asking for your data update in exhibitor listings/directories/fair or expo guides etc. very carefully - the small print in particular! The Expo Guide update is not free of charge. Please note that we are in no way related and never sell any of our customer data to any third party.

For more information, see AUMA's Information sheet (pdf).

(un)Fair Guide

Construct Data Verlag is another company that has been known to send their Fair Guide "update" requests to WOMEX delegates. As with the Expo Guide, if you don't read the small print you might think it is from WOMEX - however, we are in no way affiliated. The Fair Guide is not free of charge.

If you have been contacted by the Expo/Fair Guide, please let us know by emailing us.

Hotel Fraud

It has been brought to our notice once again by some of our WOMEX 18 delegates that they are constantly being approached by dubious hotels agencies who in order to sell accommodation are making up stories claiming to be official representatives of WOMEX. Currently by a company called Progress Expo Services.

This is a fraud! We would never call to sell you hotel rooms or any other deals. There are no extra costs for listings or bookings other than the costs you agreed on while registering online. Companies calling you are scammers. We advise you NOT to communicate or share your bank or personal details. Tips on travel and accommodation you can find here.
