Born and raised in Los Angeles, Nyofu has lived in Turkey and Sweden, and worked with major Turkish artists Okay Temiz and Zulfu Livaneli. He is an accomplished performer on the SAZ (long necked Turkish lute) and a translator of Turkish poets. In addition to the Turkish influence, his original work draws heavily from Latin and jazz.
