Ba Cissoko has made a name for himself in a contemporary register inspired by the Manding tradition with his electric version of the kora, an instrument highly prized by the griots. By interweaving percussion, deep vocals, bass and acoustic kora, the young Guinean quartet treat listeners to inventive sounds with funky accents. Ba Cissoko invites the group’s mentors Tiken Jah Fakoly and Neneh Cherry to guest on their second album, produced by Amadou and Mariam’s label, to emanate an extremely topical metaphor for Africa.
