Skrekk & Guro* is a new Norwegian folk rock band composed of four young musicians with one foot firmly planted in Norwegian and Swedish folk music, and the other foot in jazz, rock and improvisational music.
We interpret fiddle tunes in a uncompromising manner, in addition to composing our own tunes. The goal has been to make folk music that stands on the shoulders of many talented players, and yet responds to all the other sources of inspiration we have grown up with, listened to a lot, and continue to learn from.
Our debut album Folkemusikk 2.0 was released this autumn.
*If you’re wondering about the strange name for the band, it’s a play on the Norwegian expression, ‘skrekk og gru’, which is untranslatable but describes a dreadful, horrible situation ...
