A Filetta's new adventure is a sublime musical research between polyphonique singing, Daniele di Bonaventura's earthy, but nonetheless more than traditional bandoneon sounds and Paolo Fresu's fearless explorations and trumpet improvisations beyond the borders of jazz or any other style. Trying to categorize this concert would mean to domesticate it. It was near the state of the art of polyphonic singing, haunting, touching, inspired music, broadening the score of vocal music between traditional and contemporary.
text by Helmut Buergel in EWMF newsletter oct.09
After a mix of Sardaigne's musics in projects like Sonos'e memoria and Etnografie , Paolo Fresu's trip through the Mediterranean's musical traduction brings him to Corsica for an inspired meeting with the twin island's polyphony. Daniele di Bonaventura accompanies him with his bandoneon, a living and breathing instrument, completing the chain between Paolo Fresu's trompet and A filetta's seven voices choir, got together as Mistico Mediterraneo .
The idea of beginning a collaboration with Paolo Fresu, famous jazzman, and Daniele di Bonaventura inspired pianist-bandoneonist, was born in Ajaccio (Corsica) in 2006.
Mistico Mediteraneo is the fruit of musical imagination and collective expression. All the artists involved in the project have developed a common vision and taste for miscellanies.
