A unique project based around the 1998 Encore Award winning novel " I Could Read the Sky" by Timothy O'Grady. The novel tells about an Irish migrant worker's experiences in England as he works his way around the country. It recalls his struggles to make sense of a life of dislocation and loss and one of unforgotten loveliness. The book is illustrated with some stunning black and white photographs depicting Irish life of that period.

The project that is touring captures the essence of the book through narrations and slide projections, and adds some tremendous music from some of Ireland's greatest traditional musicians and singers - Mairtin O'Conner, Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill, Iarla O'Lionaird, and Karan Casey.

"there are not many books (this year) that seem to me written with comparable force (or) depth of feeling"
Dan Jacobson, Sunday Telegraph

"If the words tell the story of the voiceless, the bleak, lovely photographs that accompany it show their faces....Fiction rarely gets as close to the messy, glorious truth as do memories and photographs. This rare novel dares to use both"
Charlotte Mendel son, Times Literary Supplement
