AddisAbabaBand is a 13 piece orchestra based in Aarhus, Denmark.

Its an afrobeat, funk, jazz hybrid vessel for cosmic improvisational exploration within tight and driving beats.
Featuring an impressively sharp horn-section up front, all players improvise in their own right, contributing with distinct personal voices to the whole.
Beneath the surface lies an intensely swinging bass/guitar/key section, to provide both rhythmically intertwined, well knit, cascading figures, a fundament for the harmony and a lot of interstellar sounds to inspire the listener, and bring the music to life.
All this is resting on a solid base of irresistible rhythm from the strong, adventurous and ever grooving percussion and drum section.
Add in a violin here, a flute there, some curiosity, a stage and an audience, and AddisAbabaBand is just about certain to lift you off your feet.

Since 2010 this musical collective has played well over 100 concerts. They have performed at danish festivals like GrimFest, Copenhagen Jazzfestival and Aarhus Jazzfestival and have toured in Ghana and Holland in 2017. This summer they performed at Roskilde Festival, the biggest music festival in Northern Europe, as part of a longer danish summer tour.

Their first record was released in 2015 and has been reissued in 2017. An EP with two new tunes was released in oct. 2017.
The danish national radio (www.dr.dk) often plays their tunes and recently live-broadcasted a whole concert from Aarhus Jazzfestival - that concert was released as a live album in spring 2018.
Tunes for a new studio album are currently being written and rehearsed.
