Bastian moved to Nigeria at the age of nine with his parents, where he discovered the music of Fela Kuti a few years later. After finishing school, Bastian returned to Europe. In 1998 he started to work as the Tour Manager of Femi Kuti and in 2002 Bastian moved to Kenya. He partnered up with Tedd Josiah and managed Kenya's leading female Artist Mercy Myra and the Afrofusion band Yunasi.
