SISTER FA, known under the name Fatou Mandiang Diatta, is born 1982 in Dakar, Senegal.

Rap: The Beginnings
SISTER FA takes her first steps in rap-music in the year 2000, recording her first demo-tape and gets to know the Senegalese rap-community. In the same year, she takes part at her first festival called "Rythm et Melodie" in the Centre Culturel Blaise Senghor. Only one year later, at the age of nineteen, she gets invited the first time, to perform at the senegalese "Hip Hop Awards", which is decorated with the best Hip-Hop artists all over Senegal.

At the beginning of 2002, the French producer Philipp Mogan, shoots a documentary movie about SISTER FA: she introduces the Senegalese rap-scene and gets invited to participate in the music-compilation "Art City" with French and Senegalese rap-musicians, produced by ENDA Tiers Monde, the French organisation for development and environment.
In the same year she represents Senegal at the "festival de rap feminine international" in Guinea Conakry. Therefore, more possibilities to perform result.
In 2003 she joins the label FN'F (Fight n´Forget) where she participates on several compilations.
In the end of 2003, SISTER FA receives her second invitation to the Senegalese "Hip-Hop Awards", which are dedicated to the fight against AIDS. They released the compilation "Tous Rappons Le Sida".

Social commitment
SISTER FA starts to express herself on social topics in her music, especially about the situation of women in her country. 2004 Maestro Sega produced the compilation "Moye Lolou" in Senegal together with SISTER FA, which gets released on the Senegalese market.

HipHop Award 2005: Best Newcomer
At the 10th of August 2005, her long awaited first solo-album gets finally released in Senegal, which she produced with great love and enthusiasm. The same year, the 5th of December, SISTER FA wins the prize for "the best newcomer of the year"at the Senegalese "Hip-Hop-Awards".

Moving to Berlin
In March 2006, SISTER FA moves to Berlin and she quickly gets invited to be on the compilation of bpb (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung - Federal Agency of political consciousness) "Pop and Islam", produced by PIRANHA-records, and to a concert at Ethno-Festival in the Ethnological Museum at Berlin, together with the Senegalese reggae singer Louis-Jean, as a special guest.

2007 SISTER FA establishes her own band with a concert at Carnival of Cultures Berlin, on the Farafina stage and meets AHOI. After that,Africa Festival Osnabruck, WOMEX-expo, AfroBerlin Festival, 100 prominent BERLINER, Radio Multikulti /RBB, German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation, nominated at CREOLE Award Berlin, the Night after Ramadan Berlin, Popkomm Off-Showcase, ITB and 2008 CD-realease by PIRANHA-records, follows.

In some African villages, young girls up to 14 years are still victims of genital mutilation,if we do not do anything about it ! They need our help!

With full power SISTER FA fights against FGM: genital mutilation of women in Africa, she composed two songs, and is planning several projects in this regard, as a large media campaigne, concerts, workshops and movies.

2008 stardet the first Senegal-Tour together with her band, supported by Goethe-Institut Dakar: EDUCATION SANS MUTILATION: A project to raise awareness among teenagers and adults, with support of art: concerts, film shows of "Molaade" by Ousmane Sembene and dance workshops (traditional & break dance).

For 2009 we are plannig the second tour in Senegal, supported by TOSTAN.org and the Ministries for Women, Health and Culture. Including a big concert at 6th of February (the International day against Female Genital Mutilation) in Ibamar Diop Basketball Stadium, Dakar, together with national and international stars like: Coumba Gawlo Seck, DJ Awadi, Youssou N'Dour, Warris Dorie, Valerie Traoré and Nina Hagen, followed by a Tour to rural areas in the south of Senegal.
