The Hip-Hop-Queen from Senegal
SISTER FA, known under Fatou Mandiang Diatta, is born 1982 in Dakar, Senegal.

Rap: the Beginnings
SISTER FA takes her first steps in rap-music in the year 2000, recording her first demo-tape and getting to know the Senegalese rap-community. The same year, she takes part in her first festival called "Rythm et Melodie" in the Centre Culturel Blaise Senghor. One year later, at the age of nineteen, she is invited for the first time to perform at the Senegalese Hip Hop Awards where the best Hip-Hop singers are decorated. At the beginning of 2002 the French producer Philipp Mogan makes a film-documentary on SISTER FA, in which she introduces the Senegalese Rap-Scene. She is invited to participate in a music-compilation called "Art City" with French an Senegalese Rap-musicians that is produced with the help of ENDA Tiers Monde, a French organisation for development and environment. In the same year she represents Senegal at the festival de rap feminine international in Guinea Conakry. Therefore, more possibilities for performance result. In 2003 she joins the label FN'F (Fight n' Forget) where she participates on several compilations.

Hip-Hop 2005: Best Newcomer
On August 10th, 2005 her long awaited first solo-album was finally released in Senegal, which she had produced herself with great love and enthusiasm. The same year in December at the fifth Senegalese Hip-Hop-Awards her dedicated hard work paid off and SISTER FA won the prize for the best newcomer of the year.

Move to Berlin
In March 2006, SISTER FA moves to
Berlin, Germany. Not even a year in Berlin she has already played a number of concerts. She was a performing guest at
the Ethno-Film-Festival in Dahlem, Berlin.
2007 she gave the first concert together with her own band at Karneval der Kulturen in Berlin, Germany.
Furthermore, she regularly plays in concerts together with the reggae musician Louis Jean in the Yaam in Berlin and at other places.

With much fervour SISTER FA campaigns against FGM: Female Genital Mutilation. About this topic she has composed two songs and is planning a number of projects related to this subject, the start is Dec.2007.
