DJATOU TOURE is daughter of the MANDINGE folk with its belief in the goddesses of the Earth, the Trees and the Nature.
The goddesses gave her a generous gift to the world her VOICE is beautiful, clear, proud, dramatic and full of soul. Her repertoire consists of traditional songs from Cote d'Ivoire, improvisations and own compositions in Bambara with Malinke background, French and English - different formations and a cappella or solo with percussion.
Since Djatou Toure was a little girl, the music has been her passion and she knew that it would be the leading star in the path of her life, "I was made to be a singer", she says. Djatou Tourebecame a frequent visitor in the recording studio of her father's friend, who instantly recognized this talent, encouraging her to do professional recordings. This put the snowball rolling
She studied at the large music college ENA Ecole Nationale des beaux Arts, and is member of the Burida (Syndicat National des Artistes Musiciens de Cote d'Ivoire, Abidjan) and disciple of the world famous professor Atta Kouassi (head of the National Orchestra of Television of Ivory Coast). Contribution to the music telecasts 'Premiere Chance', 'Podium' and the music broadcasts 'Vacances Culture' (about traditional dance and traditional African events). She has performed many concerts together with several international known musicians, e. g. Koumba Sidibe (Mali), Tiken Jah (Ivory Coast),
She founded her own band 'Novo-Group Quartett in Abidjan, and gave many concerts with international famous musicians like: Koumba Sidibe (Mali), Tiken Jah (Ivory Cost), George Makintosh (Liberia) and chorus of the groups 'Les Woudy' and 'Blebo & Co'. 1995 she studied at the International Highschool for dance, music, choreographie, theatre 'Village Ki-Yi Culture' College in Abidjan.
Since 1996 she has been performing concerts in Europe and all over Germany.
Close to her heart is the engagement in the fight against FGM, female genital mutilation. Through music Djatou wants to make people aware of this problem that is devastating millions of women's lives.
