Tatenda Sandra Mashiringo a.k.a QUEEN MASHIE a Geneva-France based Zimbabwean songstress and Mbira player, born and bred in Zimbabwe. She started singing at the tender age of 4 and professionally from 2000 when she joined Andy Brown as a back-vocalist. She later decided to go solo and joined the Vintage Band with veteran guitarist Mudhara Timi Makaya as the lead singer and recorded her 1st album entitled “Higher Heights” in 2006 before she moved to Nairobi, Kenya.
In 2006 she moved to Kenia, Nairobi to pursue her musical career. She worked with Nyota Safi Band and later joined The Tutu Band as a lead vocalist. She was signed with Sound Africa and recorded her 2nd album “Kare Kare” (Long Time Ago) 2008. She did “Collaborations" with different artists from Zimbabwe and Kenya and produced her 3rd album CD/DVD Queen Mashie Collaboration 2009. On this album the song “Ulikuwa Wapi” and collaborated with ‘MITI’ of Mashifta hit the Number 1 charts on Nation TV. In 2011 she recorded her 3rd album “Mbijana Mbijana” which also got the hit song “Ndodzungaira” and founded the OCTOBER WOMEN’S FESTIVAL in Nairobi 2013. She recorded the single track “Godo” which is on her new album “Time” which was launched in Harare in 4/2015.
QUEEN MASHIE performed 2008 at Sauti Za Busara Festival in Tanzania with Afrodynamics, a composite of various multicultural musicians (France, Mozambique, Senegal, Austria, Zimbabwe), HIFA 2014, Blankets and Wine, Women in Jazz, Thurs Night Choices, Afrosonido Manchester/UK, The October Women Festival where she did a collaboration song with Mia Von Lekow, Nyota Ndogo, Suzanna Owiyo, Monique Kabuye and Susan Gogo. 2015 concerts in Zambia at Chitenge and Wine Lusaka. Brussels and others.
2016 she performed in Berlin the Afro and Beyond Concert, Jazzsommer Berlin and Vive L’Afrique Festival.
In Swizzerland, Geneva at “La Scene”, Café le Voisins and Le Cab Crozet, France.
Queen Mashie is the kind of musician whom if you are a fan of Angelique Kidjo, Brenda Fassie, Miriam
Makeba and Zimbabwe’s Chiwoniso you would feel the power of the same rhythm and dance. Her musical arrangement and live act will just leave you craving for more! Representing her country and continent, she is one of the most respected female African musicians in Africa and Europe. Breaking it in Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, UK, France, Norway and East and Southern African continent.
