Maria Alice has an amazing natural talent to capture the emotion of the real Cape Verdean mornas and coladeras through the intensity of her crystal clear voice.
Since her debut album "D´Zemcontre", Maria Alice has been performing and touring all over the world - taking part in much acclaimed European tours as "Cesária Évora and Friends" and "Women of Cape Verde".
The acoustic setting favours her sensual timbre, offering her audiences pure tenderness. She has created her own style, which combines swing with soulfulness. She is a delightfully subtle performer with a voice that somehow combines frailty, passion and power at the same time. A voice that reveals a unique personality of the modern Cape Verdean music.
With 4 records released, she performed in festivals in the Netherlands, Greece, Italy, USA, in Expo 94 (Seville) and Expo 98 (Lisbon), at the Montreal Jazz Festival, Santa Maria Festival and in "Cesária Évora and Friends" tour (England, Switzerland, Sweden, Germany and France) that gave rise to a live record CD in Paris.
Since then she has performed in Portugal and abroad (Cape Verde, USA, France, Germany, Russia, San Marino, Switzerland and The Netherlands).
