The project Sara Gonçalves & Os Alma was born within the portuguese application of the Fado music for UNESCO World Heritage.

Fado represents an implacable force that is beyond human will and, the soul of the typical portuguese people. To understand this music genre it is essential to know its heretical origins as an artistic expression and nowadays, where it encounters a new sound grounded in an authenticity in the words, especially more intrinsic to the human being sentimental and intimate. Sara Gonçalves belongs to the new generation of interpreters of Fado. Her unique way of expressing it has taken her far away, but this project was born in the Algarve, in order not to overlook all the traditionalism that Fado brings, but to ally it to a melody where the desperate emotions and new loaded sounds of "fate" and longing.

Sara Gonçalves & Os Alma find in the singularities of each element, melodies and backgrounds to pass on to the public a different sound but in a deep rooted traditionalism of Fado. Beginning by pointing out the violinist, the romanian Laurentiu Zapcirioiu, associate concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Algarve, and the classical guitarist, Rui Martins, who made all his musical career in France. To these two musicians also joins Carlos Amarelinho, saxofonist and composer of all excellent musical arrangements and the trumpet player Ricardo Carvalho, who also build all his career based on classical musical education. Later on the percussionist Diogo Carvalho joined to the project, a student at the Music School of Metropolitan, bringing the tone of instruments such as the marimba and vibraphone that greatly enrich all the sound's harmony and homogeneity.

A cutting-edge project that combines the traditional Fado to the sounds of the saxophone, trumpet and percussion and proposes a new approach to it without abandoning the essence of what is considered the most genuine Portuguese music genre.
