company description
Allan Yn Y FanAllan Yn Y Fan is Wales' leading Celtic Music band of the 21st Century with an international reputation for their concert, festival and recorded work. The multi instrumental quintet is now gaining a reputation as much for their "beautiful vocals" as for their "fiery instrumentals. The bands international touring experience includes performances at Festival Interceltique du Lorient in Brittany and concerts in Germany, France, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic. At home in the UK Allan Yn Y Fan has played at many prestigious events including Celtic Connections, Trowbridge Village Pump Festival, Priddy Folk Festival, Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau, Llangollen International Festival, and Brampton Live in Cumbria. They have also played concerts in venues across Wales & the UK.
Since 2003 the band has released three albums for the Steam Pie label. "Off the Map" was the debut release in 2003 "Welsh music has a sound all of its own and this is the best introduction to it I have heard" - Dirty Linen USA, followed by "Belonging" in 2006. "... I can say it is great to have a "Celtic" band of Welsh origin. The album, Belonging, can stand alongside many of its peers' releases and has elements of World music infused into it too. An album to be heard!..." Tony Bates, 100.7 Highland FM (Maldon, Victoria, Australia), July 2006
In July 2009 the band released "Trosnant" which American magazine found reminiscent of early Capercaillie and Silly Wizard, whilst the influential website Spiral Earth commented:
"Celtic music from Wales sums this up perfectly, full of power, love and fun with a solid backbone of that old Celtic magic running through the hills and streams of Wales. A near perfect mix of tunes and songs performed with real drive by the five piece. It never gets predictable in any of it's twelve tracks..."
In Spring 2010 the band completed a 10 date theatre tour of Wales & England with Celtic Harpist Delyth Jenkins. Their touring partnership is celebrated in a five track EP "Lle Arall" which has had reviewers reaching for new superlatives.
"An unfortunately short but striking sample of Welsh folk music. Brilliant musicians and fine singers found together to offer a taste of their outstanding music....." Folk World Germany, July 2010, Adolf 'gorand' Goriup
