Insingizi to be awarded Gold discs at WOMEX
Zimbabwean vocal trio Insingizi are to be presented with an award from their records label at WOMEX in recognition of sales of their international debut album.
The award, three customized gold CDs, are gifts to the group from ARC Music to congratulate them on sales in excess of 250,000 units of their album "Voices of Southern Africa" (entitled "Spirit of Africa" for its North American release).
Group leader Vusa Mkhaya will be presented with the award at a champagne reception at the ARC Music stand (B4-233) at 14:30 on Saturday 31st October 2009.
Inspired by the success of the first album the group has recently released a sequel, the acclaimed "Voices of Southern Africa, Volume 2". In between releases the group has been touring extensively with their many projects, including being featured in famed blues guitarist Hans Theesink's band. Member Blessings Nqo Nkomo even found time to release a solo album in January 2009, featuring appearances from Theesink and Blessings' Insingizi bandmates.
Insingizi's music is filled with hope, optimism and faith. Wherever they go, the purity of their vocal interplay is overwhelmingly beautiful, the lyric is ultimately hopeful, and the inherent tone of their message is true to their spiritual beliefs.
