KABILA is a musical confrontation between orient and occident. Marwan Abados lyric voice and his narrative, Arabic oud meets Peter Rosmaniths open, empathetic percussion. With the Austrian accordion wizard Otto Lechner and the Austrian-Australian violinist Joanna Lewis (member of the Koehne-Quartett) the duo found two ideal musical counterparts.

Together they dedicate themselves to the merger of melodic oriental rhythm and Arabian poetry with European influences. With KABILA they bring to life sound dimensions at the edge of Eastern and Western music at the border between tradition and modernism.

The musicians invite the audience to a musical adventure from the Waldviertel to the Middle East, tell stories about camels and mufties and give sensual impressions from waterpipes with apple tobacco. They also bring pictures from moon lightened dunes and dropping crevasses to life. The songs tell stories about parting, traveling, expulsion and escape. It is not until the last song that the theme changes and finally there is a coming, an arrival …

With KABILA Abado, Rosmanith, Lechner & Lewis make a very personal trip in which their musical roots melt together to become a very special, unique unit and continue their cosmopolitan trip which they started with their first CD Marakeb.
