After the sudden death of South African star and world renowned human rights activist MIRIAM MAKEBA, in Italy in the early hours of the 9th November, the family of Mama Africa, as she was known to all, have discussed with BPR how to celebrate her legacy and keep her spirit and music alive.
Together with Zenzi Lee and Nelson Lumumba Lee we are planning worldwide tours starting in the spring of 2010 featuring her band and guest soloists with backdrops and audio visual displays.
The line up will be similar to Miriam Makeba's former band and will include guests like: Abigail Kubeka, an original member of the Skylarks, Dorothy Masuka with whom Miriam basically launched her carrier, Papa Kouyate, one of her first members from the Guinea Era.
Themba Mkhize will act as musical director and is most suited with his son Afrika being Ms. Makeba's great-son-in-law.
Final guests to be confirmed.
