The Bactria Cultural Centre was created in December 2001 by the French humanitarian and development NGO "ACTED" to address the lack of access to culture, information and vocational training in Tajikistan. Six years after its inauguration, the Centre has become a key actor in Dushanbe's cultural and educational life.
Bactria Cultural Centre acts as an essential bridge between Tajikistan and the rest of the world. It aims to support:
- The development of tolerance and openness among different social, ethnic and religious groups in Tajik society.
- The strengthening of intercultural relations among Central Asian countries and with other regions of the world.
- The discovery of Tajik cultural heritage and history.
