Involving four european top-musicians, Lorenz Raab Expanded had it's very successful premiere at Saalfelden Festival 2011. The Austrian trumpet player set togehter a sensational ensemble.Sax-player Erik Hegdal,tuba-player Michel Godard and drummer Lukas Niggli are all musicians, who understand the "soul of jazz" as an egalitarian project on stage. Each of them offers a composition, individual musical language and perfect mastery.
Seemingly without any effort and in a variety of formations, trumpeter Lorenz Raab switches from nerve-wracking riffs to soothing melodies. Most of his polyvalent tunes fuse elements of cool jazz, funk, and acoustic drum 'n' bass. Listeners can tune in to whatever genre suits their fancy. Raab takes us on an invigorating journey from feverish dreams to ecstasy, from jittery desperation to silent hope.
