Straigth from the sunny hills of Colombias Caribbean coastal region comes this rootsy female vocalist. Born and raised within the tradition of Afro-Colombian Gaita music.being the grand-daughter of famous Gaitero Toño Cabrera Rivero (now 96 years old)from the village of Ovejas, in wich the annual Festival Nacional de Gaitas is still held in his honour. Vocalist, Gaitera and dancer Tania Cabrera brings us the Gaita and its acompanying drums, dance and percussion in a lively way full of enchantment of this strange indian flute, fierce afro rythms and elegant dances.The gaita music was made famous world wide by los Gaiteros de San Jacinto in the '70-ies and later in the '90-ties throughout Europe by well known singer Toto la Momposina, in whose group Tania used to sing and dance in the early 90-ties when she went to Bogota to studie music and whith whom she made travels to Mexico and throughout the country.
