company description
BPR, founded by Brian Theobald many decades ago, has evolved into a prestigious Entertainment and Arts Management Company and Agency. Sadly, Brian passed away last year after a long battle with cancer, but his partner, Ina Dittke, and her PA, Birte Howdle, continue the tradition of representing top artists.Ina, a native German, joined BPR after moving from New York, where she had started her ID Productions agency, in 1987. She and Brian went on to tour and promote every top act in jazz and Latin jazz. The lengthy list includes such great names as Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Tito Puente, Miriam Makeba and Jessye Norman, the Count Basie Orchestra, Irakere, Gerry Mulligan, Ray Charles, Georgie Fame, Maceo Parker, Pee Wee Ellis, Chaka Khan and Max Roach.
Ina has been James Moody's personal manager since 1986 and more recently took on the management of young world music artist Marta Topferova. In 2001 she and Brian, in partnership with Machito Jr and Tito Rodriguez Jr, formed the Big 3 Palladium Orchestra, presenting the music of Tito Puente, Machito and Tito Rodriguez.
Ina and Brian's 'special projects' have included Latin Crossings featuring Steve Winwood, Tito Puente and Arturo Sandoval, Miriam Makeba and Dizzy Gillespie's 'Live The Future', and GRP All Stars with Dave Grusin.
In 2006, BPR was chosen as Artistic Director of Thailand's Jazz Royale Festival, an eight-concert, four-city jazz caravan in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the King's Accession to the Throne. The December festival, one of South East Asia's biggest ever jazz events, featured Kenny G, Nancy Wilson, The Dizzy Gillespie™ All Star Big Band, McCoy Tyner, Marta Topferova, Georgie Fame, Chris Botti, Regina Carter and Ahmad Jamal.
