After releasing his first album and publishing his book in 2004, Abd Al Malik released his latest CD GIBRALTAR. Inspired by French popular music, jazz and slam (spoken word put to music - a style that emerged out of Chicago in the 90's in the wake of the hip hop movement), his second album borrows more from rap music. Fully aware of his position as an artist and his place on the world music scene, Abd Al Malik is currently working on his music with a sense of emergency. His music is highly original, personal, modern and inventive.
