Alejandro Luzardo & La Candombera

Singer, composer, guitarist and percussionist, Alejandro is a Uruguayan who has devoted most of his professional life to the development and dissemination of Candombe music from his native country. Alejandro has collaborated on projects with artists and bands such as Pulinho Lemos, Radio Malanga, Edu Tancredi, Jorge Dressler, Horacio Fumero, Jorge Reinoso, Macaco, as well as recorded more than a dozen albums in Spain and Uruguay.
In his latest recording, Escucha el tambor [listen to the drum], Alejandro continues his exploration of every element of Candombe, demonstrating the strength, force and subtle cadences which form the essence of his native music. He is ably supported in this effort by the exacting talents of ten musicians, each contributing their individual expertise in the interpretation of Candombe.
In concert, Alejandro Luzardo reveals a passion for and dedication to his musical roots, and his conviction to the goals of maintaining its continuity and evolution.
The Candombe of Alejandro is music with stimulating rhythms for dancing, music made to listen, stories to tell, music to enjoy, music with a rich history from an ancient culture.
