Bino Barros (1975), was born on the island of Santiago (Cape Verde), where the unique sounds of the Funana and Batuku are, the musical styles that dominate this West African archipelago. He has founded bands in Europe and Africa, with musicians from around the globe, experiences which have enriched his natural talents and provided material for his extensive repertoire. At 21, he formed the band "Gumbe Show", featuring the musical influences from neighbouring Guinea-Bissau, and with who he has performed in many prestigious venues in Europe and Africa. In the Netherlands he was invited to participate in the project "Caminho do mar", which united five significant voices of Cape Verde (Antero Simas, Ildo Lobo, TitinaRodrigues, AmericoBrito, Jorge Sousa), along with guittarist, Manuel Candinho. Bino Barros has the support of his godmother Cesaria Evora and the Ministry of Culture of Cape Verde. He has been awarded Best New Artist Cape Verde Music Awards 2011. The award ceremony was in honor of Cesaria Evora.
