Praia Baxu
The exotic, lilting and rhythmic music on this album is focused primarily on the daily lives of Cape Verdeans and the cultural gap which exists between its immigrant population and its native peoples. In this recording, Bino Barros has incorporated the main rhythms of Cape Verde (Funan, Morna, Tabanca, Batuku and Afrotuco), Afro-Brazilian rhythms and elements of traditional and folkloric music. The songs are replete with the native Creole language of his culture, and carry the signatures of each member of his band of versatile musicians who hail from different cultural and musical backgrounds (Brazil, Cape Verde and Argentina). It is Bino Barros´ personal effort to demonstrate the beauty and evolution which can be accomplished through sharing and peaceful cohabitation.
