TuKuPa is the creation of four musicians, from diverse cultural origins, whose mutual destiny and objectives are to explore and bring to the forefront the introspective attributes of traditional and folkloric African music. TuKuPa's founders/musicians/performers each brings to the Group a wealth of musical education and performance experience which they have acquired from many years of professional studies , intense investigation and, above all, collaborating with musicians who share this common dream.

TuKuPa's repertoire consists of traditional songs which relate wondrous tales from ancient mythology to stories about daily life. The evocative singing and chanting are accompanied by indigenous instruments of percussion, as much from Africa as many other cultures of our World. Included in the repertoire are many original compositions, all of which respect and adhere faithfully to the musical traditions of their African roots.

With their first recording, N'ze, TuKuPa has firmly established their musical direction, and the musicians remain committed to its authenticity, originality and diversity during their live performances and future recording projects. Their new recording, tentatively titled Further Back in Time will bear testimony to this objective.

A TuKuPa concert will transport the listener to the ambiance of an African village and reveal the profound beauty of the music and visual art of the planet's most ancient cultures.
