The third album release from Téada, 'Inné Amárach' ('Yesterday Tomorrow'), is accompanied by a bonus documentary-style DVD which presents a context to the music. The DVD takes a look at the band as they travel from the studio to Sligo to explore part of the rich legacy which lies behind some of the tracks on the album.
In the noise of the modern world, where music needs to be heavily marketed just to get a hearing, the authentic Irish music of Téada beckons from a tradition which still continues and gathers itself anew for those who, worldwide, await it.
It is Téada's love of old style traditional music and the past masters who carried this tradition forward that motivates the band. In the simplicity of the local community setting there seems to be a way to unbolt the backdoor from the local pub session and appeal to a wider world audience. The young Japanese woman, who appears in the DVD and is now in Ireland to study with Peter Horan, illustrates this.
Irish quintet Téada reflects a deep cultural fascination with the interaction of past and present. They share a passion for a deeply traditional approach and see Irish traditional music as an art form. "With Téada, we wanted to capture some of the rawness and individuality of the solo artist within the dynamic of a full band" says Oisin Mc Diarmada
