The XIII Edition of the Music Festival SUONI DAL MONDO is dedicated to North-American music and its roots, a musical repertoire until recently scarcely represented in the European musical scene, despite the richness and diversity of the North-American musical scene. The Festival presents eight concerts held by six different groups -many performing in Italy for the first time - and a two-days seminar held by Franco Minganti, concerning Blues, Cajun and Klezmer music traditions.
In this edition, SUONI DAL MONDO focuses on two different aspects of the North-American musical heritage: on one side, it gives space to musical genres and styles belonging to communities still rooted into the original oral traditions; on the other, it presents different music realities and practices which emerged from the complex process of cultural ibridation and creolization resulting from the encounter of the different peoples emigrated in North America through the centuries.
