"As Ganhadeiras Itapuã" is a traditional group formed with the purpose to redeem the traditions of Itapuã, a neighborhood in Salvador, Bahia; especially, redeem the history of the ancient "Ganhadeiras" the time when the neighborhood was still a small village fishermen, located on the northern coast of the city of Salvador.
The Ganhadeiras Itapuã represent an important page in historyand Black Culture in Brazil. Bring to the world cultural scene contemporary life of women and men (black men and women, slaves or freed) that between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries leaving the city streets Brazilian marketing its products in a characteristic way,
Besides being a beautiful tribute to our heritage and African culture, is also a tribute to all Brazilian workers today make up the vast majority of so-called Informal Markets in major cities of the country and it certainly has that commercial activity, Ganhadeiras developed by the eighteenth century, an important benchmark.
The product of group work is a beautiful pectacle that involves music (songs, sieves, and especially samba de roda), and dance performances
theater. These elements form the basis of the show that seeks to tell one rather it was the way of being and living the "Itapuanzeiro".
The group has 30 members, including musicians and ganhadeiras ladies and gentlemen. On stage are 9 musicians who play stringed instruments and percussion, together with the sound of the voices of very peculiar tone of 19 ladies, revealing the
richness of the cultural universe of Itapuã, producing a beautiful spectacle of music,
dance and theater performances that has been delighting audiences of places has been submitted.
