One of the main Brazilian references on the dialogue with the traditional popular culture, the group A BARCA has carried out for over 10 years a broad work of spectacle creation, documentation, art education and cultural production. In frequent trips around the country they gathered a heap of over 500 hours of audio- visual records and thousands of photos of national popular manifestations, having produced 15 CDs and 8 documentaries of these genres. With a contemporary look on these traditions and guided by artistic reflections and their esthetic and social responsibilities, they create and present several musical shows based on their CDs “Turista Aprendiz” (2000); “Baião de Princesas” (2002) and “Trilhas” (2007).
