Founded in 2001, the group COCHICHANDO presents a repertoire based on its own compositions and also plays classics of the most traditional genre of brasilian music: Choro. The group is part of the new generation of young Choro players in São Paulo city. In the past two years, the group won two prestigious awards. In 2008, the group was selected in a public contest funded by the State of São Paulo (within the "Cultural Action Program") in which it was given funds for the band to perform concerts in different cities within the São Paulo state. In 2007 the group released its first CD called "Grupo Cochichando". Since 2001, the group performs every Saturday at the most famous venue for Samba and Choro in São Paulo city, called "Ó do Borogodó".
