In this edition only a small specimen from the rich musical variety of Macedonia is represented, the emphasis being on the music of Chalkidhiki, where Xanthippe Karathanassi, who performs all the songs contained in this compact disc, was born and raised. It was only natural that the tunes and airs selected for this anthology should be those with which this gifted singer has a special, life-long, relationship.
