Formed in 2001 by the drummer Edu Ribeiro, the pianist Fabio Torres and the bass player Paulo Paulelli, Trio Corrente has been creating an original music, interpreting in a unique way the classics of the ‘choro’, the MPB (Popular Brazilian Music) and of their growing authorial repertoire. In their performances are allied a pleasant balance of virtuosic solos and moments of rare subtlety.

Since the first concerts, the group has been gathering a growing number of followers formed not only by enthusiasts of jazz and choro, but also by the general public. Few Brazilian jazz groups have performed on both the national and international circuit, becoming a reference among musicians and music lovers.

In 2011, the Trio Corrente recorded their second album Volume 2. In 2013, with the legendary Cuban saxophonist and 14 Grammys winner, Paquito D'Rivera, the album "Song For Maura" won the Grammy Award and the Latin Grammy Award, both in the Best Latin Jazz Album category.

In 2016 they release the new album, Volume 3. Most of the compositions come from famous Brazilian artists such as Tom Jobim and Pixinguinha, passing through Djavan, Dorival Caymmi and Chico Buarque. Beyond the classics, the group also presents authorial compositions of the three members of the band.
