biography

Marek Garztecki (full name Marek Rohr-Garztecki) born January 8, 1947 in Rome (Italy), lecturer (cultural studies and African studies) at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, writer, music reviewer. Past occupations (in alphabetical order) include: archivist, assistant bricklayer, car mechanic, journalist, leader of the Polish Socialist Party, radio and TV personality, Solidarity spokesperson, military analyst, researcher. Set up and headed the "Eggful of Music" folk club that started Polish world music scene in 1966, wrote probably the first book on rock in (then) communist bloc, "From Presley to Santana", published in 1977, co-authored books on Africa and national security.
